Want to be Hired by Apple? You Also Need to Learn the Psychology



According to latest news, Apple is on the hunt for a Siri software engineer with a background in counselling or psychology, due to the real conversation between its Siri and users everyday all over the world.

The job listing gives a rare insight into how people use Apple's voice assistant and how Apple wants to improve it. Interestingly, people are turning to Siri in emergencies or "when they want guidance on living a healthier life."

Just in last Tuesday morning September 12 local time, Apple just help its 2017 Fall Event to launch a dozen of new products in Apple Park, including new iPhone lineup, the Apple Watch Series 3, a 4K Apple TV, and more related software system. Many people would like to work in Apple park, but working in it is also the most Apple stuff’ goal, because there are only 1.2 thousands seats available, which is quite small amount compare to 12 thousands stuffs in total of Apple. Except the fierce competition, Apple has more strict requirements in employment.

In one of Apple's job ads, many users see Siri as a psychotherapist or consultant, hoping that Siri can do better when helping others. Apple has also mentioned, users would like to communicate with Siri in a very serious mood, with all kind of things even the problems they met in their live or job, they are willing to talk to Siri rather than real people.


Describing the "Siri Software Engineer, Health and Wellness" role, Apple writes:
"People have serious conversations with Siri. People talk to Siri about all kinds of things, including when they’re having a stressful day or have something serious on their mind. They turn to Siri in emergencies or when they want guidance on living a healthier life. Does improving Siri in these areas pique your interest? Come work as part of the Siri Domains team and make a difference.” 
"We are looking for people passionate about the power of data and have the skills to transform data to intelligent sources that will take Siri to next level. Someone with a combination of strong programming skills and a true team player who can collaborate with engineers in several technical areas. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities."



So this is why you are not only required to be good at software engineering but also to be very psych, and Apple also says they need someone who have a degree in computer science or related disciplines and over 5 years of industry experience as a Siri software engineer.

In recently years, more and more technology companies include Apple, Google, Amazon, Facebook, Microsoft, and other companies are all battling it out to hire the best and brightest people in the field of AI, with salaries often running into six figures.
